About The Position

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is seeking an experienced Financial Counselor – Patient Access (Full Time). This role is responsible for the in-depth and detailed evaluation of patient financial history for both uninsured and under-insured patients (inpatient and outpatient) to determine eligibility for State and Federally funded financial assistance programs. The Financial Counselor will also ensure insurance authorization for patient services has been obtained/verified, establish working relationships with all departments of CHRMC and contractors, and conduct timely follow-up/monitoring of accounts to ensure time frames are maintained according to statute. The position supports an organizational culture that upholds the highest degree of service excellence standards to all customer groups.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) certification
  • 5 years of current experience in a hospital registration, Business office and/or Case Management as related to insurance
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and critical thinking skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills and PC and spreadsheet proficiency

Responsibilities
