About The Position

The Financial Counselor will be responsible for patient financial counseling, making financial arrangements and payment plans, and providing customer service and call management related to patient billing and financial responsibility.

Requirements

  • Understanding of insurance coverage, benefits, and estimated out-of-pocket costs.
  • Ability to provide clear and compassionate guidance on financial responsibility.
  • Knowledge of available financial assistance programs and payment options.
  • Skill in setting up payment plans and assisting with financing options.
  • Ability to monitor and follow up on outstanding patient balances.
  • Proficiency in responding to patient inquiries regarding billing, statements, and financial policies.
  • Experience in managing incoming and outgoing calls related to patient financial responsibility.
  • Capability to provide timely and accurate follow-up on financial questions or concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with patients to explain insurance coverage, benefits, and estimated out-of-pocket costs.
  • Provide clear, compassionate guidance on financial responsibility, including deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance, and non-covered services.
  • Educate patients on available financial assistance programs and payment options.
  • Maintain a patient-centered approach while discussing sensitive financial matters.
  • Set up payment plans for patients with balances that cannot be paid in full.
  • Assist patients in enrolling in financing options (e.g., third-party financing programs).
  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding patient balances as appropriate.
  • Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing, statements, and financial policies.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing calls related to patient financial responsibility.
  • Provide timely and accurate follow-up on financial questions or concerns.
