About The Position

The Financial Coordinator works with patients and their families compassionately and tactfully, prior to, during and following OMFS Services to allow for the continuity of care. The OMFS financial coordinator is responsible for being up to date on all Medicare cost reporting rules and regulations. The OMFS financial coordinator conducts financial evaluations with patients being seen by Oral Surgeon team to determine transplantation appropriateness. Works with the OMFS billing colleagues and Practice Manager and other Jefferson billing colleagues to rectify billing and insurance errors. Ensures assigned Epic work queues are appropriately managed and reviewed in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, required
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word and ability to navigate NaviNet, Epic, and other insurance-based platforms
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology
  • Epic experience including extensive in-class training and shadowing
  • Insurance experience including an understanding of state and federal programs.
  • Minimum of two years health service experience in finance, billing, customer service, reimbursement, or other related area
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong communications and writing skills
  • Proficiency with computer systems such as outlook and Microsoft word

Responsibilities

  • Obtain financial clearance information and prior authorizations for all phases of OMFS services.
  • Educate patients in OMFS clinic regarding insurance coverages and work with patients and families on obtaining appropriate primary coverage, secondary coverage, and pharmacy benefits in order to comply with Jefferson policy and ensure patient is fully covered for services being rendered.
  • Provide additional advice and financial counseling to uninsured and underinsured patients on corrective measures to obtain coverage.
  • Assist the lead financial coordinator in financial process for urgent/emergent listings and evaluations.
  • Communicate financial findings to OMFS colleagues team members including, Patient Service Representatives, Practice Manger, physicians, surgeons, and billing team.
