About The Position

The Financial Consultant is responsible for advising financial users on University policies, business processes, and internal controls. Serves as a subject matter expert on financial processes, leading process redesign and building efficiency and effectiveness in a continuous improvement environment. Collaborates with colleges, information technology, and business process leaders and staff on financial process and system enhancements, upgrades, and integration projects. Works with college and vice-presidential units to provide fact-based analysis on results, trends and financial projections; other duties as assigned. The work for this role is primarily achieved independently/through individual efforts or by participation in functional or project teams. The responsibilities may include coordinating, influencing, or providing guidance to less experienced colleagues. Requires a unique combination of analytics and project management as well as a solid understanding of the accounting, finance, and supply chain functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four (4) years of experience in working with general ledger and financial analysis.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees, peers, executive leadership, technical team members and others.
  • Knowledge of financial, student, payroll, or human resources business processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Workday.
  • Understanding of university operations.
  • Experience with Ohio State financial processes and systems.
  • Previous audit experience (external or internal).
