This position leads and supports the development and management of financial forecasting, budgeting, and planning studies, financial analysis, and process improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related business field or have equivalent business experience.
  • Minimum of five years of financial analysis experience for a level 2. Additional years’ experience required for a level 3.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with demonstrated understanding of financial analysis concepts and financial planning techniques.
  • Understanding of regulated utility economics, including revenue requirement and rate base development.
  • Financial modeling skills and experience using Microsoft Excel.
  • Research and analysis skills including ability to obtain relevant data, evaluate complex situations, and influence outcomes.
  • Experience working with financial statements and experience building and utilizing financial models.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the preparation of documents and presentations for varied audiences.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exhibiting sound business judgment.
  • Capable of meeting tight schedules and demanding targets while delivering high-quality output; effective at managing competing priorities and reconciling divergent expectations.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain a high degree of credibility and trust across the organization.
  • Proven ability to develop innovative and resourceful solutions to complex issues and new projects.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA, MBA or CFA is desirable.
  • Other software such as UI Planner software is preferred.
  • experience utilizing AI to streamline data collection and data integration preferred
  • Experience with SAP or other integrated financial systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development and preparation of financial plans and forecasts of revenue, income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and financial ratios, including scenario analysis as required.
  • Help manage the development and maintenance of operating budgets, including variance analysis.
  • Leads the development and implementation of financial forecast models, and supports long-term forecast process and scenario planning.
  • Develops reports and queries using various reporting tools to support the more efficient operation of the business.
  • Provides regulatory and investor relations support, including cost of service calculations.
  • Performs financial modeling and analysis including PVRR (Cost of Service), IRR, NPV, ROI, and ROE to optimize cash flows, evaluate customer rate impact, assess shareholder returns, and support capital project selection.
  • Performance financial modeling and analysis to support business development activity, including contract negotiations, evaluation of acquisitions, and greenfield development planning.
  • Proactively identifies problems and risks; actively seeks resolution of known problems; communicates and escalates as needed.
  • Provides specialized guidance, advice and counsel to management on highly visible or company-wide strategic initiatives. Conducts studies and analysis, develops alternatives, presents recommendations and influences management decisions.
  • Performs complex assignments requiring analysis, judgement, and evaluation, which may lack precedent and require creativity.
  • Establishes and maintains productive business partnerships across the organization.
