Financial Consultant - Portfolio+ FP&A
About The Position
Finance serves as a strategic partner to a global business portfolio exceeding $18B across the Medical Surgical Portfolio, Americas Region-Led Markets, and Global Commercial Transformation. This team drives financial planning, forecasting, performance management, and executive decision support, helping leaders make informed investment and growth decisions across a complex global organization. This position is based onsite at Medtronic Operational Headquarters (OHQ) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Limited travel may be required. The Financial Consultant serves as the core Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) lead for Portfolio+, providing leadership across forecasting, reporting, performance management, and executive financial deliverables. This role partners with Operating Unit Finance, Strategy, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver actionable insights, drive alignment, and support portfolio-level business decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of Finance or Accounting experience OR Advanced degree with 8+ years of Finance or Accounting experience.
- Experience in financial planning and analysis, forecasting, budgeting, financial reporting, and performance management.
- Experience developing executive-level financial presentations, reporting, and business insights.
- Experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to support business decision-making.
- For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
- The employee is also required to interact with a computer, and communicate with peers and co-workers.
- U.S. work authorization sponsorship (H-1B, TN, J, etc.) is offered exclusively for Principal-level roles and above, where specialized expertise aligns with long-term business needs. Roles below the Principal level require candidates to possess unrestricted U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and for the duration of employment.
Nice To Haves

- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency with Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Worldwide Reporting (WWR), and Global Standard Reporting (GSR).
- Experience translating complex financial data into actionable insights and business recommendations.
- Experience presenting financial results and recommendations to senior leadership within a complex global organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead core FP&A processes across Portfolio+, including forecasting, reporting, financial analysis, and performance management activities.
- Lead the Latest Best Estimate (LBE) process, including consolidation, financial analysis, risk assessment, opportunity identification, and stakeholder alignment.
- Develop and coordinate Monthly Financial Review (MFR), Executive Committee (ExCom), and other executive financial deliverables.
- Analyze financial results, forecasts, and key business drivers to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and performance impacts.
- Manage forecast tie-outs, variance analysis, and reporting accuracy across systems and financial submissions.
- Own the Portfolio+ FP&A calendar, coordinating milestones, deadlines, inputs, reviews, and deliverables across stakeholders.
- Partner with global Operating Unit Finance and Strategy teams to align assumptions, expectations, risks, opportunities, and key financial deliverables.
- Drive process improvements through simplification, standardization, and enhanced financial reporting and analytics.
