The Structural Heart business at Medtronic is dedicated to advancing innovative therapies that address complex structural heart disease through minimally invasive technologies. The Financial Consultant for Structural Heart New Product Development (NPD) plays a critical role in supporting the development and commercialization of next-generation therapies for structural heart disease. This role serves as a strategic finance partner to upstream marketing, R&D leadership, and new product development cross-functional teams. As a highly experienced individual contributor, the Financial Consultant provides financial leadership for the Structural Heart new product development investment portfolio, enabling leadership to evaluate trade offs, prioritize investments, and align development funding with long term franchise strategy. This position is an on-site role based in Mounds View, Minnesota and partners closely with marketing, R&D, operations, and executive leadership. The role operates with significant independence and is expected to influence cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders without direct authority. The Financial Consultant plays a key role in aligning development investments with the Structural Heart long-term growth strategy while strengthening financial discipline across the NPD organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant finance or accounting experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the finance core team member for both the Mitral and Tricuspid franchises, providing financial insights to support portfolio prioritization, investment decisions, and strategic planning.
  • Partner with the Structural Heart Vice President of New Product Development and program leaders to deliver consolidated program reporting, key metrics, and financial forecasts for the NPD portfolio.
  • Serve as a strategic finance partner to Mitral and Tricuspid Upstream Marketing teams, supporting financial modeling, business case development, and long-term planning for new therapies.
  • Provide strategic financial insights and scenario analysis to senior leadership, enabling data‑driven decisions on development portfolio prioritization, program funding, and long‑term investment strategy.
  • Lead the Structural Heart Enrich modeling process, ensuring alignment between development program assumptions, demand planning, and integration into the broader strategic plan process.
  • Drive financial rigor across development programs by coordinating cross-functional financial reporting and supporting program governance and investment reviews.
  • Coordinate with global manufacturing sites to support clinical inventory accounting and forecasting for Mitral and Tricuspid development programs.
  • Translate complex financial data into clear insights that support leadership decision making and program execution.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting capabilities, and forecasting accuracy across the NPD organization.
