This role involves working one-on-one with consumers to help them achieve financial goals, understand Social Security disability benefits, build assets, manage banking and credit, reduce debt, and receive counseling on financial and SSA work incentives. The position also includes managing a caseload of Supported Employment participants and providing support to participants, employers, and community partners.

Requirements

• Hold and maintain CWIC: Certification required for Social Security Benefit Counseling.
• Bachelor’s degree plus minimum two years of related job experience, associate degree plus minimum three years of related job experience, or minimum four years of related experience required.
• Experience working with adults with a wide range of disabilities required.
• Must pass a credit check.
• Ability to pass Social Security background check.
• Ability to obtain Personal Financial Coaching Certification.
• Certified Work Incentives Counselor (or be in process of obtaining certification).
• Valid driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation to perform work-related travel required.
• Eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR).
• Customer service skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated understanding of financial industry.
• Demonstrated understanding of Social Security work incentives.
• Compassionate self-starter with the ability to work independently.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a resource to all staff members, consumers and stakeholders.
• Complete financial health assessments with customers.
• Track and meet monthly and annual program service targets.
• Conduct individual financial coaching on topics such as credit and debt management.
• Assist participants to develop a personal financial plan to meet their financial goals, savings, and budgeting.
• Assist and empower customer to identify and assess their personal financial needs.
• Provide, as applicable, individual SSA (Social Security Administration) benefits counseling and planning.
• Assist and empower customer to understand their SSA disability benefits and related.
• Ensure that all customer information is documented in the database(s) on a daily basis.
• Set aside time each day and week to ensure all data is current and complete.
• Develop and submit monthly progress reports, as directed.
• Build relationships in the community to create opportunities for outreach and inform the community of services available.
• Manage and oversees a diverse caseload of Supported Employment participants and participant-employees, providing ongoing support and consultation to participants, employers, and community partners to promote successful employment outcomes, case management, workplace stability, and long-term career development.
• Participate in financial coaching training programs offered by stand By Me.
• Develop competency to deliver program related presentations, including but not limited to: program orientations, Mind Over Money and Social Security Benefits workshops.
• Facilitate financial education workshops.
• Facilitate Social Security Work Incentive education workshops.
• Maintain follow-up contact on progress toward goals during coaching sessions.
• Refer participants to community or financial agencies to obtain services outlined in financial plans.
• Represent the Finance Ability Program in various community forums and conduct program presentations.
• Contribute to the Rehab department outcomes including participation in team and staff meetings.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
