The Ohio Department of Public Safety – Bureau of Motor Vehicles/Remittance Processing is seeking a Financial Associate. This role involves preparing, compiling, and verifying statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing data, reports, and tables related to accounts payable and accounts receivable, and/or performing payroll activities. The position also requires greeting and responding to inquiries in a professional and courteous manner, verifying, auditing, and compiling various reports and transactions for vehicle registrations and SB 123 fees.

Requirements

  • 18 months of experience or 18 months of training in accounting and/or finance, including a basic level of experience in spreadsheet software.
  • Completion of high school technical program in accounting; AND 6 months of experience or 6 months of training in accounting or finance, including a basic level of experience in spreadsheet software.
  • Completion of associate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field.
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment.
  • BCI fingerprint check, and background check, may be required on all selected applicants.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with accounting and finance.
  • Experience with Bureau of Motor Vehicles operations, overseeing driver and motor vehicle licensing and registration.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, compile & verify statistical, financial, accounting or auditing data, reports & tables related to accounts payable & accounts receivable &/or perform payroll activities.
  • Greet & respond to in-person, telephone &/or written inquiries in a professional, courteous, friendly, respectful & timely manner to ensure positive internal &/or external customer service.
  • Listen carefully to internal &/or external customer's questions &/or concerns & ask appropriate follow-up questions to verify understanding.
  • Provide a complete, knowledgeable, accurate, precise response immediately or provide a firm commitment as to when a response will be provided.
  • Follow-up to ensure all of the customer's questions &/or concerns have been thoroughly answered.
  • Verify, audit, & compile various reports & transactions for the vehicle registrations, SB 123 (partial reinstatement fees).
