About The Position

The Department of Radiology at UC Irvine is seeking a Financial Analyst 3 to manage all fiscal operations. This role involves budgeting, financial analysis, procurement, payroll, gift and restricted fund activity, and professional fee management. The position provides both short- and long-term financial planning and analysis in a complex, multi-funding environment, establishing and maintaining robust financial control and reporting systems to ensure fiscal integrity and compliance. Under the general direction of the Finance Manager, the incumbent oversees operational budget control, financial management processes, and faculty salary compensation to support departmental goals and strategic priorities.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
  • Demonstrated ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; excellent service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail.

  • Working knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and good business practices
  • Demonstrated organization skills and ability to prioritize assignments when faced with heavy workload and competing deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work independently and carry out assigned tasks reliably with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrated skills to independently analyze situations, interpret data, define problems and/or objectives, identify relevant factors, and formulate logical conclusions and recommendations.

  • Demonstrated skill in handling detailed transactions throughout tedious review and approval process.
  • Proficiency in English in order to read, understand and interpret complex documents, including detained information on University accounting policies and practices, and contract and grant administrative regulations.
  • Excellent writing skills and skill in modifying and/or adapting materials and information to create understandable technical information.
  • Proficiency in computerized information systems to gather award, personnel and expenditure data from UCI online sources.
  • Demonstrated experience in working as a member of a team, being willing to offer services and to request assistance under appropriate circumstances.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated experience with UC fund accounting management, purchasing, and equipment management policies, procedures and practices.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years with a BA/BS Finance and/or equivalent combination of education and related experience

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of UCI Kuali Financial Systems, Decision Support, Tableau.
  • Knowledge of University accounting principles and cost accounting standards.
  • Previous UC system experience.
  • Familiarity with UCI on-line financial systems including General Ledger, Employee Database, and UCPath.
  • Previous experience with processing financial journals and fund transfers.
  • Working knowledge of faculty salary compensation processes.
