About The Position

As a Financial and Accounting AI Transformation Advisor with Echo Park Consulting, you will serve as a trusted advisor to our clients’ finance and accounting leaders, helping them navigate the intersection of Rillet and modern accounting practice. You bring deep accounting expertise - ideally from a Controller or equivalent background - paired with a genuine curiosity about what AI makes possible and a builder’s mindset for solving problems that don’t yet have off-the-shelf answers. You are intellectually honest about the limits of technology, able to distinguish between opportunities that call for creative solutions and situations that carry unacceptable risk. You work across multiple client engagements simultaneously, manage your own workload with discipline, and actively invest in the growth of the consultants around you. So, you are a trusted advisor to your clients and your colleagues!

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Strong, demonstrable background in finance and accounting - ideally 7+ years with experience at the Controller level or equivalent (e.g., Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, VP Finance). Must have broad, generalist accounting experience across the full GL: including intercompany accounting, accounts payable, accruals, close processes, and financial reporting - not just a narrow specialty.
  • Active, working use of AI tools in a finance or accounting context - you should be able to describe specifically how you use AI in your day-to-day work.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, and change management skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously without dropping the ball.
  • Excellent problem-solving judgment - able to distinguish between situations requiring creative solutions, standard implementation, or a firm “no” due to risk.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a virtual environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on ERP implementation or administration experience (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Xero) - not required, but a meaningful plus.
  • Experience advising on ASC 606 and other revenue recognition complexities.
  • SaaS or high-growth technology company experience.
  • A track record of introducing AI or automation tools into accounting workflows - not just using them, but building the case and driving adoption.
  • The right candidate describes themselves as curious and a builder - someone who gets energized by figuring out how things work and making them better, not just maintaining the status quo.

Responsibilities

  • Bring a generalist accounting foundation that spans the full general ledger - you are equally comfortable discussing Chart of Accounts design, accrual methodology, intercompany accounting, accounts payable processes, and month-end close (or continuous close) as you are advising on revenue recognition under ASC 606.
  • Lead client conversations on intercompany accounting - including elimination entries, intercompany payables and receivables, and how multi-entity structures are configured in Rillet.
  • Advise on accounts payable workflows, vendor management, bill approval routing, and how AP processes integrate with the broader close cycle and ERP configuration.
  • Advise clients on the accounting implications of ERP configuration decisions - e.g., how subsidiary structure, intercompany transactions, segment reporting, and consolidation are reflected in the system.
  • Serve as a credible peer to Controllers, VPs of Finance, and CFOs; translate complex accounting requirements into system design that actually works.
  • Guide clients through deferred revenue schedules, unbilled AR, and multi-element arrangement analysis as relevant to their revenue model.
  • Identify accounting risks or gaps in client processes and recommend pragmatic, auditable solutions.
  • Demonstrate active, working use of AI tools in your own finance or accounting practice - not theoretical familiarity, but real daily use.
  • Help clients understand where AI-native ERP capabilities can meaningfully improve their accounting workflows versus where traditional approaches remain appropriate.
  • Bring a builder’s approach to ambiguous problems: prototype, test, iterate, and know when to stop.
  • Maintain intellectual honesty about what AI tools can and cannot do - protect clients from over-reliance or misapplication of AI in regulated accounting contexts.
  • Be proactive in engagements, always serving as the client’s advocate.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate confidently with both accounting and technical audiences - bridging the gap between finance stakeholders and your implementation team.
  • Manage your own workload independently across multiple simultaneous client engagements without requiring close supervision.
  • Maintain clear project plans, milestones, and status updates for each engagement; proactively surface risks and blockers before they escalate.
  • Participate in status meetings, project planning sessions, work breakdown, and change control processes.
  • Develop a strong sense of priority - knowing when to go deep on a client issue and when to triage effectively to stay on schedule across projects.
  • Lead discovery sessions and requirements gathering workshops with client finance and accounting teams.
  • Conduct fit/gap analysis to align business requirements with Rillet capabilities - flagging both quick wins and genuine constraints.
  • Be responsible for process mapping, reengineering, and future-state process design.
  • Advise clients on Rillet functionality and accounting best practices.
  • Design system configurations, draft functional requirements, and create design documents.
  • Collaborate with technical counterparts to build custom solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Actively mentor and support junior and mid-level consultants on your engagements - sharing accounting knowledge, reviewing work, and creating learning opportunities.
  • Help supporting consultants grow their skills through real project work, feedback, and example - not just task delegation.
  • Assist in day-to-day consulting tasks alongside your team when needed; this role leads by doing, not just directing.
  • Lead configuration workshops and manage offline configuration activities.
  • Lead End User Training (EUT) sessions and develop enablement plans for finance teams transitioning to Rillet.
  • Define data migration strategy and oversee all data migration activities where applicable.
  • Provide post go-live support and troubleshooting - with particular attention to accounting accuracy during stabilization.
  • Stay current with Rillet product updates, accounting standards, and finance technology trends.
  • Bring curiosity as a professional practice - actively exploring what’s new, what’s breaking, and what’s worth adopting.
