About The Position

Under the supervision of the Finance Manager, this role provides forecasting, planning, and analysis for units within Facilities Management (FM). Responsibilities include financial management for Building Care, Grounds, R5 Waste & Recycling Program, FM Administration, and FM Operations, Logistics, & Support Services. This position will collaborate closely with unit directors and managers to prepare monthly forecasting and quarterly/annual financial reporting, acting as the primary departmental resource for financial information and expertise. The role is accountable for the financial integrity of financial statements, ensuring adherence to University policies and procedures. It involves detailed budget development, billing rate calculation and development, including internal overhead cost recovery, and monthly headcount report calculation. The position also involves collaborating with team members on presentations, supporting audits, interpreting financial policies, developing long-range forecasting models, and preparing/analyzing financial reports and trends. Recommendations for tools to improve reporting and metric processing, as well as data analysis to inform decision-making, are also key functions. Participation in streamlining efforts to enhance service delivery and automate financial reporting is expected. This position fosters professional working relationships with other Cornell departments, including the Division of Financial Services, the Division of Planning and Budget, and the Shared Service Center (SSC). This is an Endowed position with a hybrid work arrangement, typically involving two days on-site and three days remote, subject to change.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an associate’s degree with 2 years relevant work experience or bachelor’s degree or combination of education and work experience.
  • Ability to develop complex financial models, perform appropriate data analysis, budget and forecasting, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication skills, organization skills, and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or related field strongly preferred.
  • Three or more years of in-depth analytical, forecasting and budget experience.
  • Computer software proficiency and expertise, especially in the use of MS Office Suite with a strong emphasis on Excel and Power BI.
  • Knowledge of Cornell policies, on-line accounting systems (Kuali) and OBIEE Answers experience.

Responsibilities
