About The Position

This role sits within the Olefins and Polymers finance team and supports cross-functional finance functions through financial reporting, analysis, and planning. This role requires the ability to communicate with employees of all levels and work in an open environment. The Financial Analyst supports enterprise financial reporting, analysis, and forecasting activities to ensure accurate and timely results for Senior Managers and members of the Executive Team. A flexible work schedule is required to meet monthly, quarterly, and especially year-end financial book close deadlines. This role is a key part of the Olefins & Polymers Finance Team ensuring the integrity of the P&L and Balance Sheet.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance with 2+ years of relevant experience required.
  • Previous financial accounting experience required, preferably in the chemical industry.
  • SAP FI module knowledge (knowledge of other modules also a plus)
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with attention to details.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills with ability to explain financial concepts.
  • Working knowledge of financial internal control processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s in business, accounting or finance will be strongly considered as positives.
  • Chemical industry experiences a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support during the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Provide support in preparing and analyzing financial results, including variance analysis vs. budget, forecast, and prior periods.
  • Support consolidation of financial results across business units, including intercompany activities.
  • Support month-end activities, including preparation of recurring journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis. Demonstrate a solid understanding of debits and credits.
  • Develop a foundational understanding of manufacturing accounting processes, including standard costing, inventory valuation, production variances, and BOM structures, to support analysis.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on working capital components, including inventory, receivables, and payables.
  • Extract, validate, and analyze financial data from SAP and other reporting systems
  • Support balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis to provide assurance on data integrity.
  • Collaborate with the other members of the Finance & Accounting team.
  • Support compliance efforts by providing required information to external financial auditors as required.
  • Backup for other members of the Finance Team as needed.
  • Participate in special projects from time to time, as directed by management.
  • Other duties as assigned.
