About The Position

The Financial Analyst will perform analysis in relation to potential acquisitions, partnerships, strategic projects, and other investment initiatives, assessing their impact on value creation and various financial metrics. This role involves becoming a subject matter expert for Total Shareholder Return (TSR), valuation, and performance metrics for CTC and its peer group. The analyst will monitor and update the Total Shareholder Return model to support decision-making, and collaborate with various business units and corporate groups to consolidate financials and summarize performance metrics of business opportunities, mergers, and acquisitions into meaningful analysis. Additionally, the role supports refining the framework for estimating enterprise-level hurdle rates and periodically running these estimations, along with impairment WACC. The analyst will collect and analyze market, peer group, and macro data for projects such as capital allocation, Plan and Outlook projections, portfolio management evaluations, strategic initiatives, and scenario planning. Support is also provided for capital allocation planning (capex, dividends, Share repurchases) and the development of financial models. The role contributes to improving CTC's long-range financial projections capability, including scenario modeling (e.g., pro forma M&A models, sensitivity models). Periodically, the analyst will support the Enterprise Investment Planning team with monthly/quarterly reporting, strategic plans, and forecasts. Responsibilities include preparing financial analysis as requested by management (e.g., income statement, balance sheet, capital expense, and working capital analysis) with comparisons to prior periods, budgets, forecasts, or trend analysis. The analyst will also create and update PowerPoint presentations for the Executive Team, CFO, and Board of Directors, and perform ad hoc analysis as required by Senior Management.

Requirements

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, or a business-related discipline
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ progressive experience in a finance or analytical role with an emphasis on corporate finance, financial modeling, and analysis; with strong working knowledge of the financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow statements).
  • Strong financial acumen, including modelling, business case development, and financial valuation
  • The ability to work through ambiguous business problems with minimal direction in a fast-paced and changing environment under tight deadlines
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities, and attention to details
  • Strong executive communication/presentation skills
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially PowerPoint (and Data Visualization) and Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Financial designation (CA, CFA, CMA) or MBA is considered an asset
  • 2 years experience in a medium to large corporation in a Forecasting and Planning role is an asset
  • Working knowledge of software such as Bloomberg, FactSet and/or Capital IQ, Hyperion is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze market, peer group, and macro data as required for various projects (capital allocation, Plan and Outlook projections, portfolio management evaluations, strategic initiatives, scenario planning, etc.)
  • Support on capital allocation planning (capex, dividends, Share repurchases) as required
  • Develop financial models that support analysis and decision making
  • Support the improvement of long-range financial projections capability of CTC, including scenario modeling (e.g., pro forma M&A models, sensitivity models, etc.)
  • Periodically, support the Enterprise Investment Planning team in the preparation of monthly/quarterly reporting, strategic plan, and forecasts
  • Prepare financial analysis as requested by management (e.g., comprehensive income statement, balance sheet, capital expense and working capital analysis) comparing results to prior year, budget, forecast or trend analysis
