About The Position

We're looking for a Financial Analyst to join our finance team. You'll execute our core finance operations, including accounting, month-end close, tax filings, and payroll. You'll also prepare the reporting and analysis leadership uses to make decisions and plan ahead. This hands-on role is a good fit if you're detail-oriented, enjoy working independently, and like turning numbers into clear insights.

Requirements

  • Degree in accounting
  • 3+ years of experience, including running end-to-end payroll, month-end close, GL reconciliation, and accruals.
  • Experience preparing GST/QST returns.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including financial modelling.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct, Stripe, AI tools and payroll systems.
  • High accuracy and discretion with confidential information.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with both executives and staff.
  • Comfortable juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Advanced English proficiency (written and verbal) to effectively support team members located outside of Quebec and in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Record all business transactions.
  • Maintain accruals and adjustments, including payroll, vacation, and variable compensation.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations.
  • Prepare payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll to the general ledger each period.
  • Reconcile benefits and group insurance invoices and allocate costs by department.
  • Prepare tax returns with all supporting documents.
  • Support month/quarter/year-end closings.
  • Make sure financial activities follow regulatory requirements and internal controls.
  • Support external audits and due diligence requests.
  • Document and file invoices, contracts, and other records.
  • Prepare, process, and submit payroll for all cycles and jurisdictions, accurately and on schedule.
  • Calculate and process variable pay, including commissions and retro payments.
  • Manage statutory remittances, year-end filings, and other government reporting.
  • Administer the payroll system and manage the relationship with the provider.
  • Answer employee payroll questions accurately and discreetly.
  • Keep complete, audit-ready documentation for every cycle.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for senior management and stakeholders, plus ad hoc reports as needed.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
  • Monitor budget performance and recommend adjustments.
  • Analyze variances between actuals and budget or forecast, and give recommendations.
  • Build financial models and analyses that show trends, key drivers, and projected results.
  • Support strategic planning by assessing the financial impact of proposed initiatives.
  • Produce regular payroll cost reports for the executive team.
  • Work with HR on the annual compensation budget and the cost side of workforce planning.
  • Support the preparation of grant claims (CanExport, PSCE, IRAP).
  • Act as a main point of contact for finance questions from executives and staff.
  • Find and implement improvements to accounting, reporting, and payroll processes.
  • Automate manual reporting, and make reports clear and useful for decision-making.
