About The Position

Financial Analyst – Global Treasury Controllership, Middle Office Global Treasury Controllership (“GTC”) is responsible for providing comprehensive transactional support, accounting & reporting for various Treasury related areas such as cash, debt, derivatives, investments, fair value, Intercompany loans and other comprehensive income. The Middle Office team is a key component of GTC and is responsible for providing Trade Support, Trade Capture, Accounting, and Analytics for various Treasury related products. The primary goal of the team is to lead and support various organization-wide efforts to all Global Treasury Operations teams and provide value added services. The Senior Financial Analyst plays a key role in the GTC Middle Office team, with a primary focus on capital regulatory reporting and related controls, while also providing broader support across Treasury operations. This role supports the execution and enhancement of regulatory reporting processes, interpretation and documentation of regulatory requirements, and coordination across key stakeholders, while developing subject matter expertise across capital and Treasury activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA/CMA/ACCA certification a plus
• 1-3+ years of relevant experience (aligned to scope and ownership)
• Strong knowledge of treasury products, accounting (US GAAP), and financial markets
• Experience with regulatory reporting and capital frameworks
• Demonstrated ability to own processes and drive outcomes independently
• Ability to think outside the box for systems design and help maintain/build small scale systems in Python (key requirement)
• Ability to communicate effectively, maintain a balanced perspective and drive outcomes via effective communication
• Well organized and attention to detail – that is take ownership of tasks assigned and act independently to ensure said tasks are done pristinely with minimal management
• Advanced analytical skills with experience handling complex datasets
• Advanced Excel; experience with Bloomberg, Power BI, SQL, Python or similar tools preferred
• Experience supporting audits and control environments
• Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.

• Experience in Treasury/Treasury Controllership and/or knowledge of capital markets is a plus

Responsibilities

• Execute and support capital regulatory reporting, including FR Y-9C, FFIEC 101, and FR Y-14Q, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely delivery of reporting requirements
• Perform capital reporting analysis, reconciliations, and variance reviews, investigating data or reporting differences and coordinating resolution with relevant stakeholders
• Develop and maintain regulatory interpretations, methodologies, procedures, and process documentation to support consistent and well-controlled reporting
• Drive process enhancements and automation opportunities to improve reporting accuracy, efficiency, scalability, and control effectiveness
• Coordinate with stakeholder teams to resolve data and methodology issues, implement reporting changes, and deliver on regulatory requirements
• Serve as a subject matter expert for capital reporting data and processes, including key data sources, system dependencies, reporting logic, and controls
• Maintain a strong control environment through execution and enhancement of key controls, documentation, issue management, and support for SOX/PRSA and other governance requirements
• Support internal and external reviews, including control testing, Internal Audit, external audit, and regulatory examinations, through documentation, analysis, and issue resolution
• Provide broader Treasury Advisory support, including cross-training across debt, derivatives, investments, collateral, and other Treasury activities to provide effective coverage as business needs evolve
• Support trade lifecycle, data quality, and operational control activities across Treasury products, helping identify and resolve exceptions and strengthen end-to-end processes
• Partner across the Treasury Advisory team to provide flexible coverage of critical Treasury processes and controls, particularly during peak reporting periods, change initiatives, or other business priorities
