About The Position

The Ohio Department of Public Safety, Director's Office/Fiscal Services (Revenue Management) is seeking to fill three Financial Analyst positions. These roles are crucial for saving lives, reducing injuries and economic loss, administering Ohio's motor vehicle laws, and preserving the safety and well-being of all citizens. The position involves examining, analyzing, reconciling, and preparing accounting records, financial statements, and statistical reports with accuracy and compliance. A key responsibility is reviewing various transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with the Ohio Revised Code (ORC) for revenue collection and distribution related to drivers' licenses, vehicle registrations, and other fees. The role requires proficiency in automated systems like OAKS and BASS, as well as standard computer software such as Word, Excel, and Access, to ensure revenue is correctly collected, deposited, and distributed. Additionally, the Financial Analyst will initiate credit card credits/debits and assist in developing, coordinating, and monitoring revenue management control activities.

Requirements

  • Option 1: 30 mos. exp. or 30 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an intermediate level of experience in spreadsheet software.
  • Option 2: Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field AND 6 mos. exp. or 6 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an intermediate level of experience in spreadsheet software.
  • Option 3: Or 12 mos. exp. as Financial Associate, 66561.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
  • Successful completion of the Fiscal Academy may be substituted for 4 mos. of required accounting/fiscal experience referenced in this portion of the minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Examine, analyze, reconcile & prepare accounting records, financial statements, statistical reports, accounts analysis reports, etc. with accuracy, completeness & in compliance with established reporting & procedural standards.
  • Review various transactions for various accounts to determine their accuracy, completeness & compliance with the Ohio Revised Code (ORC) rules for the Ohio Department of Public Safety's (ODPS) collection & distribution of revenue for drivers licenses, vehicle registrations, reinstatement fees, titling functions & other services or fees.
  • Utilize the Ohio Administrative Knowledge System (OAKS), Business Application Services System (BASS), &/or various other automated systems & computer software with proficiency, (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, etc.) for the purpose of assuring the revenue is correctly collected, deposited, distributed.
  • Initiate credit card credits &/or debits.
  • Assist in developing, coordinating, implementing, performing, monitoring, examining & analyzing a variety of revenue management control activities (e.g. sales transactions from telephone, internet, mail registration, deputy registrars, kiosks, International Registration Plan (IRP), etc.).
