About The Position

Mississippi Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company, is seeking a Financial Analyst to prepare, analyze, and present financial information to management and other groups within the Company. This role involves developing and maintaining financial modeling systems for strategic financial planning and project analysis, as well as providing financial analysis for corporate initiatives in sales & marketing, regulatory, and budget areas. The Financial Analyst will also prepare responses to regulatory data requests and participate in company and system teams related to the Financial Analysis function.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 2+ years of Accounting/Finance experience preferred
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with changing priorities and produce timely results
• Ability to effectively respond to changing business needs
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including both written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products - particularly utilizing Excel spreadsheets and models
• Basic project management skills

Nice To Haves

• Advanced degree or CPA desired.
• Working knowledge of utility accounting and regulatory framework preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare, analyze, and present financial information to MPC's Management and other groups within the Company.
• Develop, maintain, and manage financial modeling systems used for strategic financial planning activities and project analysis.
• Provide financial analysis in support of strategic corporate initiatives including sales & marketing, regulatory and budget.
• Prepare responses from the Financial Analysis function for regulatory data requests.
• Participate on Company and system teams as required on issues related to the Financial Analysis function.
