About The Position

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Compute Analyst to join our Accounting team. This role will help build and run the accounting, allocation, and reporting for compute cost of revenue as the company continues to scale. Compute is by far our largest expense category and the single biggest driver of gross margin. Cloud spend runs across a growing set of CSP and neocloud vendors under a mix of on-demand, reserved, prepaid, and committed-capacity structures — each with its own invoicing cadence, true-up mechanics, and credit terms. The ideal candidate is comfortable turning GPU utilization data into defensible accounting conclusions and enjoys building the schedules, reconciliations, and controls that make cost of revenue accurate, explainable, and auditable. This is a hands-on role that will partner closely with Infrastructure, Capital Efficiency, FP&A, Procurement, Partnerships, and Data teams to ensure compute costs are captured in the right period, classified to the right cost center, and reported in a way the business can actually use.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3–6 years of relevant accounting or finance experience, including meaningful experience in cost accounting or cost of revenue.
• Familiarity with cost allocation concepts, including direct cost attribution and overhead allocation across cost centers or product lines.
• Comfort working with large datasets and reconciling information across multiple systems.
• Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills; SQL or experience working directly with data warehouses is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Builder mindset — comfortable creating and improving processes in a fast-paced environment where products, vendors, and systems continue to evolve.
• Strong communication skills and ability to translate cost accounting requirements into practical guidance for non-accounting stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

• CPA or CPA candidate a plus.
• Experience in cloud computing, AI infrastructure, SaaS, or other usage/consumption-based business models is preferred but not required.
• Experience evaluating vendor contracts and committed purchase arrangements, and translating commercial terms into accounting treatment, is a plus.
• Experience with NetSuite or another major ERP system, including allocation schedules and amortization functionality, preferred.
• SQL or experience working directly with data warehouses is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support the monthly close for compute cost of revenue, including preparing cloud cost journal entries, accruals for unbilled usage, prepaid amortization, true-ups to actual usage, and supporting schedules.
• Perform reconciliations of GPU utilization data to CSP invoices, contracted capacity, and the general ledger; research utilization-to-billed variances, idle capacity, and billing discrepancies, and escalate complex items with a proposed resolution.
• Prepare and maintain prepaid cloud balance schedules, including short-term/long-term classification, amortization tied to committed capacity, and rollforwards that tie to contract terms, for senior review.
• Support the accounting for complex vendor and partnership arrangements, including committed spend, prepayment and reimbursement structures, revenue share, SLA and downtime credits, and capacity arranged through third parties.
• Help evaluate the accounting treatment of new vendor agreements and capacity commitments, including COGS vs. operating expense classification, gross vs. net presentation, embedded leases under ASC 842, and liability vs. expense characterization.
• Work with Data and Analytics teams to build and validate the cost and utilization data pipelines that feed allocations and reporting, and improve data quality at the source.
• Contribute to technical accounting memos supporting significant cost of revenue and capitalization conclusions, including capitalized software and its amortization into COGS.
• Support external audits by preparing cost schedules, vendor contract samples, allocation support, and responses to auditor inquiries.
• Identify opportunities to automate and scale cost accounting processes, reconciliations, and reporting as compute spend grows.
