About The Position

The Financial Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the financial operations of Anderson Center for Autism through the preparation, analysis, and reporting of financial and statistical data. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of internal and external financial reporting, including monthly financial statements, regulatory filings, and cost reports. The Financial Analyst partners closely with finance leadership and cross-functional teams to provide actionable insights, support budgeting and forecasting, and ensure compliance with funding, regulatory, and organizational requirements. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to mission-driven work while supporting data-informed decision-making across programs and services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required
  • 3–5 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, budgeting, or reporting required
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems required
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in not-for-profit, healthcare, education, or human services environments preferred
  • Experience with cost reporting, financial statements, audits, and regulatory reporting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including supporting schedules, variance analysis, and trend reporting
  • Ensure all financial data is complete, accurate, and aligned with internal records and reporting deadlines
  • Perform variance analysis on revenue, expenses, staffing, and operational metrics; communicate key findings to leadership
  • Prepare and support annual New York State Consolidated Fiscal Reports (CFR) and Statewide Standards of Payment (SSOP)
  • Compile financial and statistical data for regulatory filings, ensuring consistency with audited financial statements and general ledger
  • Assist in preparing annual filings including IRS Form 990 and NYS CHAR 500, including reconciliations and support schedules
  • Perform account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, allocations, and other month-end closing activities
  • Investigate discrepancies and ensure timely resolution of financial variances and reporting issues
  • Support budget development, forecasting, and financial planning through data analysis and modeling
  • Prepare budget-to-actual and forecast analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Assist with year-end financial audits by preparing workpapers, schedules, and supporting documentation
  • Respond to auditor and regulatory requests in a timely and accurate manner
  • Develop and maintain financial reports, templates, and tools to improve reporting efficiency
  • Support compliance with financial policies, internal controls, and external regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather and validate financial and operational data
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding reporting, deadlines, and financial insights
  • Participate in special projects, process improvements, and finance initiatives as assigned
