About The Position

The Financial Analyst will be responsible for analyzing, evaluating, and coordinating the financial impact of programs and initiatives within the Property and Casualty insurance environment. This role will require the ability to interpret and apply provisions of complex reinsurance contracts, analyze financial opportunities, and conduct research on various accounting and financial issues.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and financial analysis practices, typically acquired through a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in financial analysis, financial reporting, accounting, or a related finance role required.
  • Experience analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and evaluating financial performance trends to support decision-making.

  • Proficiency with financial systems, spreadsheets, and reporting tools preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial performance and key operating metrics, including loss ratios, frequency/severity trends, retention, and other data for all products, books, and programs.
  • Maintain data tracking and reporting for financial management, underwriting models, client reports, and other analytical reporting deliverables.
  • Prepare schedules for the annual reinsurance renewal and assist in evaluating appropriate terms, rates, and conditions.
  • Support financial reporting and analytical processes in accordance with company policies, internal control standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Accounting, Products, and Underwriting teams to validate financial data and understand performance drivers within the P&C insurance environment.
  • Assist with the development and submission of regulatory filings.
  • Monitor third-party investment activities to ensure compliance with insurance department standards and company policy.
  • Work closely with the IT development team on programming specifications for accounting-related programs and applications.
  • Prepare journal entries, monitor accounts, and perform account reconciliations, resolving any discrepancies effectively and timely.
  • Maintain records and prepare schedules as required for internal/external audits and exams.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and/or internal control enhancements.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting for insurance company operations.
  • Works on ad-hoc requests for analysis, research, reports, and presentations of financial information.
  • Regular and sustained attendance.
