About The Position

The total target compensation (TTC) range, including salary and target bonus, is $55,968 - $84,800. This TTC range is applicable to permanent roles only; fixed-term contract and casual roles are not eligible for annual bonus and would receive only the base salary component. Our team is looking for a driven and analytical individual to join our team as a Financial Analyst (FA) or Intermediate Financial Analyst (IFA), depending on experience level. The FA/ IFA plays a critical hands-on role in the monthly close process, account reconciliation, and supporting analysis, primarily focusing on group & life insurance, payroll related accounting entries, and business assets. The incumbent will execute defined procedures and work collaboratively under the guidance of a Senior Financial Analyst and Manager, preparing them for increased responsibility and complexity.

Requirements

  • Actively pursuing a CPA designation
  • Completion of a university degree with courses in accounting, business and mathematics
  • 1 to 4 years of progressive accounting experience ideally in the financial services/insurance industry
  • Experience working in entities reporting within the IFRS framework
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel competency (e.g., pivot tables, LOOKUPS, complex formulas) and experience with other Microsoft Office suite tools
  • Experience working in ERP systems such as Microsoft AX/ Dynamics, Workday, or Oracle/ NetSuite
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) for interacting with team members and internal stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt within a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and strong attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with data querying/reporting tools such as Power BI
  • Experience with Workday

Responsibilities

  • Execute the timely preparation and recording of assigned period-end working papers, journal entries and other deliverables in support of the financial close process.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed monthly and quarterly reconciliations for assigned General Ledger (GL) accounts.
  • Proactively investigate and resolve imbalances identified during the reconciliation process, working with line of business teams as needed.
  • Assist in the documentation and maintenance of standard operating procedures for core accounting processes.
  • Provide recommendations and implement improvements to working papers, reconciliations, and processes.
  • Assist with research and draft recommendations for improvements to the internal controls within Corporate Accounting.
  • Assist with initial research on accounting issues, draft accounting memo sections, and assist with implementing the approved outcome.
  • Provide support to the team by compiling documentation and responding to routine requests during internal and external audits.
  • Provide support on any process improvement initiatives within the purview of Corporate Accounting.
  • Participate in other projects as assigned.
