About The Position

As an Insurance Company Financial Analyst Trainee with the Insurance Department, Financial Analysis Division, you will begin an exciting journey into the world of insurance regulation. This role gives you the opportunity to learn important financial concepts and understand how regulators help protect consumers. You will gain hands-on experience working with financial records, industry tools, and real regulatory processes. Your training helps build a strong foundation for a future career in financial analysis and oversight. This position focuses on structured training, hands-on learning, and gaining familiarity with financial analysis tools and regulatory processes. It prepares you to support solvency monitoring, review filings, and understand how insurance companies are evaluated.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in insurance, accounting, finance, economics, business administration, risk-management, or a closely related field, which includes 15 college credits in accounting, finance, or auditing; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 15 college credits in accounting, finance, or auditing.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
• You must meet the PA residency requirement.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Attend department and NAIC courses to learn analysis methods and regulatory practices
• Assist in examining financial statements, business plans, and required filings
• Study manuals and guides to understand risk focused analysis and solvency standards
• Use regulatory software and tools to enter data and support analysis work
• Observe experienced analysts and examiners to learn real world financial review practices
• Draft questions and prepare basic reports to support regulatory communication
