About The Position

The Financial Analyst, Senior is an integral member of the College of Medicine (COM) Finance PODs team, providing financial and operational support to assigned academic departments and centers. This position ensures that faculty and staff receive financial services and guidance. The position plays a critical role in managing faculty and staff salary allocations, faculty Distribution of Effort (DOE), and departmental budgets. Responsibilities include monitoring and reconciling financial accounts; analyzing UAccess employee, financial, and analytical data; and preparing accurate and meaningful financial reports to support departmental decision-making, planning, and resource management. As a key contributor to the COM-T centralized business support team, the Finance Business Partner - Professional II supports the team’s mission of delivering exceptional customer service, accurate financial information, and responsive operational support. Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
Three (3) years of relevant work experience required.
Working knowledge of accounting practices, procedures and generally accepted accounting principles.
Excellent organization and time management skills.
Ability to take initiative and be self-motivated.
Ability to multi-task projects and daily assignments.

Responsibilities

Assists the finance team with fiscal responsibilities for assigned academic departments and centers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with University and UA Foundation financial policies and procedures.
Reviews and reconciles department charts of accounts with expense authority, college, department, and sponsor budgets using University financial systems.
Serves as an account delegate for UA and UA Foundation accounts and reviews financial and employee transactions in UAccess Employee, UAccess Financial, and UAccess Analytics to support accurate and compliant financial management.
Reconciles UA state, designated, sponsored, restricted gift, and UA Foundation accounts using University financial systems.
Initiates and processes financial transactions to correct errors and make adjustments resulting from personnel or operational changes.
Reviews, processes, and approves day-to-day financial transactions in the UAccess Financial system and Action List, including payment requests, disbursement vouchers, P-Cards, travel authorizations and expense reports, internal billing invoices, error corrections, and salary expense transfers.
Ensures transactions are accurate, complete, and compliant with University, sponsor, and UA Foundation policies and procedures.
Monitors internal and external commitments and expenditures.
Assists with the operationalization of grants and contracts by ensuring funding aligns with sponsor budgets and scopes of work.
Updates funding plans and personnel budget workbooks and assists with position distributions and salary expense transfers.
Reconciles clinical faculty sponsored effort and updates funding distribution calculators and Distribution of Effort (DOE) workbooks.
Assists with adjustments to monthly Banner invoices to ensure accurate payments.
Sets up and maintains electronic account files for department charts of accounts.
Assists the Financial Analyst III with preparing financial reports and providing explanations and recommendations related to operating budget variances.
Manages daily communications by reviewing and responding to emails and voicemails from faculty, staff, other departments, and department or center leadership.
Attends department meetings to review financial reports, address questions and concerns, and provide financial support for assigned units. as needed.
