About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Director, Revenue Finance & Reimbursement, the Financial Analyst performs duties related to the utilization of data provided by the Decision Support System for Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH). The Financial Analyst’s primary responsibilities are to provide accurate data loading, reconciliation, reporting, and usage of the Decision Support System. To provide guidance to BILH colleagues regarding the utilization of all healthcare financial data and to educate end users about how to utilize the data that exists within the Decision Support System. The Financial Analyst will also have a working knowledge of the feeder systems for the Decision Support System, including but not limited to EPIC. In addition, this entry-level role will gain exposure to hospital Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting processes, including preparation of supporting schedules, reconciliation of financial and statistical data to source documentation, and assisting with annual cost report filings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Technology or equivalent education.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of Health Care Finance or Cost Accounting

  • Demonstrate accurate, clear, and timely verbal and written communication, actively promote teamwork and work ethics, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications, which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access, and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis, and maintain databases.
  • Willingness to learn federal and state cost reporting requirements, reimbursement methodologies, and the fundamentals of hospital finance.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to Medicare and/or Medicaid cost reporting processes strongly preferred; internship or entry-level experience preparing cost report schedules, reconciliations, or supporting documentation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and reconcile interface activity to the Decision Support System on a daily basis, resolving any issues.
  • Process and reconcile monthly GL data from Workday to the Decision Support System.
  • Complete the flex budgeting process on a monthly basis.
  • Maintain costing tables, including statistics and overhead allocations for cost processing.
  • Assist in the development and distribution of various financial and statistical reports, including scheduled standard reports and ad hoc reporting.
  • Being a resource to the users of the Decision Support System information, providing an explanation of its meaning, its derivation, and the process for obtaining further information.
  • Completes special projects as assigned accurately and timely manner, as required.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of department, clinic, and clinic patient information.
