About The Position

The Financial Analyst I role is responsible for preparing monthly journal entries, maintaining daily records for inventory elements, and performing monthly reconciliations related to inventory reporting. This position will oversee metal receiving functions, maintain accurate daily records for metal receipts, and reconcile activity to inventory reporting and billings. The analyst will also book necessary journal entries to record metal receipt activity, including appropriate cost variances. Additionally, the role involves maintaining and updating worksheets for monthly melting and casting activity, recording all activity by alloy, and preparing journal vouchers. The analyst will review activity for reasonableness, discuss significant variances with the supervisor, and participate in the preparation of annual departmental budgets. Responsibilities include performing monthly detailed analysis of expenditures, reviewing general ledger activity for inaccuracies, preparing adjusting journal entries, and assisting with special projects. The role also requires issuing and maintaining document controls for Physical Inventory forms, performing monthly reconciliations between Oracle and the AS400 system, and supporting the preparation of the company's Self-Assessment Tool with an ongoing working knowledge of related procedures and policies.

Requirements

  • BBA/BBS - Accounting major.
  • 2+ years of finance accounting experience including journal entry and reconciliation experience.
  • Excellent personal computer skills (software programs including Word, Excel and Access) and practical knowledge of calculators.
  • Excellent understanding of computerized reporting systems, query tools, and internal control.
  • A systematic or organized approach to performing tasks with neatness, accuracy, and reconciliation.
  • Individual must be able to work on multiple tasks as well as work for several individuals on a regular basis.
  • Requires good communication skills and ability to perform and communicate financial analysis to support business decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly journal entries from worksheets.
  • Maintain daily records for all inventory elements.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations related to inventory reporting.
  • Oversee metal receiving functions and maintain accurate daily records for all metal receipts.
  • Reconcile metal receipt activity to inventory reporting and billings.
  • Book necessary journal entries to record metal receipt activity, including appropriate cost variances.
  • Maintain and update worksheet for monthly melting and casting activity.
  • Record all activity by alloy and prepare and book the journal voucher for the activity.
  • Review activity for reasonableness and discuss significant variances with supervisor to obtain approval before posting the journal voucher.
  • Participate in the preparation of annual budgets for the departments by line item expense category.
  • Perform monthly detailed analysis of expenditures on a request basis.
  • Review all monthly general ledger activity for inaccurate and invalid account usage and prepare adjusting journal entries to correct.
  • Assist as required in special projects researching or compiling data that would be used in current condition analysis or to satisfy an information request.
  • Issue and maintain document controls of all Physical Inventory forms.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation between Oracle and the AS400 system and prepare adjusting journal entries to book to the general ledger.
  • Support preparation of the company's Self-Assessment Tool and must have an ongoing working knowledge of procedures and policies in the self-assessment tool related to inventory and cost accounting.
