About The Position

We're looking for a Financial Analyst to join the DeepMind Finance team. This role focuses on managing data costs related to Generative AI and consolidating financial forecasts across DeepMind. You will assist technical teams in making sound financial decisions and provide accurate financial visibility throughout the organization. You will collaborate with Generative AI development teams while managing central forecast processes. This requires understanding the technical aspects of model development, training, and usage, alongside core Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) reporting. Your expertise will be used to create cost estimates, analyze "what-if" scenarios for model development, and offer practical advice for effective spending. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience working with technical or R&D teams in AI/ML.
  • Experience building financial models and tracking return on uncertain investments.
  • Experience with SAP financial data systems or working with SQL datasets.

  • Experience in structuring ambiguous problems and navigating uncertain situations.
  • Ability to be organized, pay attention to detail, think strategically, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in AI, machine learning, and specifically Generative AI.

Responsibilities

  • Work with GenAI teams on regular finance tasks including forecasts, budget management, and annual planning, improving ROI metrics by connecting spending decisions to measurable technical outcomes.
  • Create financial forecasts to illustrate the cost implications of various technical choices or scaling strategies for AI work, and build budgets based on these forecasts.
  • Support monthly forecasting processes across DeepMind, collaborating with other FP&A team members for accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Communicate financial details and actionable insights to research teams and central Google Finance.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., Corporate Finance, Partnerships), technical teams across DeepMind, and central Google Finance teams.
