About The Position

The Financial Analyst, FP&A will provide financial analysis, accounting coordination, and vendor management support for operational functions at Sonesta International Hotels. This role will play a strategic role in helping analyze corporate spend as well as certain hotel specific operational spend. This role will also play a tactical role in coordinating with accounting and accounts payable to ensure ongoing costs are properly coded for accounting and data analyses purposes.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of accounting or financial analysis management experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA is a plus
  • Strong financial/cost analysis and budgeting/forecasting skills
  • Outstanding knowledge of US GAAP
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with attention to quality/accuracy
  • Excellent data visualization skills
  • Well-developed oral and written communication proficiency
  • Must be able to apply critical thinking skills to the simultaneous management of multiple tasks and juggling of priorities
  • Willingness to take full responsibility for tasks and projects
  • Thorough knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint

Nice To Haves

  • Yardi and/or OneStream experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Accounting and Accounts Payable to improve the purchase requisition and invoice management process to be more streamlined and effective including coordination with vendors, as needed
  • Assist departmental leadership in proper coding of invoices
  • Assist departmental leadership in determination of monthly accruals
  • Prepare monthly variance reports including actual results versus budget and forecast, for executive leaders and asset ownership and analyze key performance drivers
  • Assist departmental leadership in the forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning processes for certain operational functions, including both the hotel and corporate budgets
  • Collect and analyze cost data and create ad-hoc forecasts as needed to provide insights into areas of risk and opportunity and influence business strategies
  • Review trends to identify, communicate and take action on key business opportunities
  • Develop and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with departmental leadership to understand, analyze, and recommend changes in cost structure and departmental allocations
  • Leverage reporting tools to develop and maintain key financial and analytical report
  • Lead key ad-hoc projects to support business decisions
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
