About The Position

ITW is seeking a talented individual to join the External Reporting team at its corporate campus in Glenview, Illinois. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, able to work independently, possess strong communication skills, and have demonstrated knowledge of US GAAP in their past accounting/reporting work experience. This position will work collaboratively with other members of the Corporate Finance & Accounting team and with various corporate departments, business unit management teams, and our external auditors. As a member of the Corporate Finance & Accounting team at ITW’s corporate headquarters, this position has excellent visibility and will offer opportunities for rotation and advancement. The position will report to the Sr. Manager of External Reporting.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree specifically in Accounting is required
  • 2+ years of professional corporate accounting experience is required
  • Ability to work 5 days a week at the corporate campus in Glenview, IL, with flexibility in hours
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Organized and results-driven
  • Inquisitive and able to work independently
  • Strong analytical skills and overall knowledge of accounting principles
  • Ability to perform in a fast paced environment
  • Proficient with key financial applications (Oracle/HFM, Excel, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • public accounting experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Execute various processes related to the Company’s quarterly financial close and consolidation across all worldwide businesses and corporate activities.
  • Interact with ITW’s multinational divisions to analyze and understand reported results
  • Provide reports and commentary for quarterly management review
  • Work with external auditors on various key areas
  • Assist in the preparation of SEC filings and disclosures (10-K, 10-Q, etc.)
  • Develop an understanding of corporate policies and procedures
  • Contribute to various department initiatives and cross-functional Finance projects to improve process efficiency and overall timeliness and accuracy of financial information
  • Prepare information for various governmental surveys
