This role is for a Regulatory professional with extensive technical knowledge in rate design theory and practice within AEP's state jurisdictions or external state jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will have electric utility experience and a detailed understanding of industry trends related to cost of service and rate design for new technologies and recovery strategies. This position requires detailed knowledge in applying theory to perform mathematical analysis and solve complex problems with minimal guidance. A developed working knowledge of state or federal regulations, standards, codes, concepts, systems, docket research, and business processes is essential. The ability to communicate and coordinate work across multiple organizations to address complex problems or perform analysis outside the AEP footprint is crucial for accomplishing goals related to innovative rate solutions for rate cases, recovery clauses, audits, compliance filings, policy matters, and/or other proceedings. This role provides high-value input for corporate, operating company, and business unit regulatory strategy development and coordination, as well as support for recommended negotiation strategies. The position holder will possess extensive knowledge of developments, procedures, and current events affecting regulatory activity across numerous jurisdictions and will provide input in the development of strategy regarding cost recovery based on the application of that knowledge. With an extensive level of regulatory knowledge, the individual will educate others on the interrelationships between cost drivers and revenue.
