About The Position

The Financial Analysis Consultant provides analytical support for the financial positioning and future growth of an assigned area or region. The role leads development, analysis, and preparation of financial plans, reporting, and key performance indicators in support of system and entity strategic goals. It provides financial expertise to support efficient hospital operations, identify and implement operating improvements, and provide financial education to internal customers. The consultant leads or participates in financial processes including operating budget development, forecasting, strategic and capital financial planning, program and management reporting, operations and variance analysis, charge management, cost accounting, decision support, contracting, and reimbursement analysis. The position works with multidisciplinary teams to evaluate assumptions, develop financial proformas, and prepare and present business plans. It also supports regulatory compliance, financial systems and software implementation, and accurate, timely management and regulatory reporting. Assignments at various Banner locations may carry regional accountability and support multiple facilities. The position works on complex problems requiring in-depth evaluation, advanced analytical and modeling skills, independent judgment, and minimal supervision. It interacts with regulatory agencies and internal teams, including Information Services, Benefits, Finance, and Human Resources.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
Typically attained proficiency through 7 or more years of experience in financial management.
Excellent human relations skills and ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with staff at all levels and outside professionals.
Proficiency with sophisticated software programs.
Advanced analytical and financial modeling skills.
Operational skills and knowledge in healthcare.
Strong leadership and confidence.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple projects.
Ability to read and understand technical pronouncements, identify compliance issues, and make independent decisions.

Nice To Haves

Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
Master of Business Administration (MBA).
Experience in healthcare financial management.
Additional related education and/or experience.

Responsibilities

Analyze and interpret financial data to support decision-making; gather and challenge assumptions, develop financial proformas, and assist with business plans.
Lead financial processes such as operating budgets, forecasting, program reporting and analysis, charge management, cost accounting, decision support, contracting, and reimbursement analysis.
Coordinate resources, communications, and process teams for assigned financial processes.
Support regulatory compliance and provide coordination and education regarding contractual and regulatory requirements.
Identify trends and variances in management reports and financial analysis, and direct operating improvements and efficiencies.
Use data to guide process changes and provide strategic financial guidance.
Coordinate implementation and support of financial systems software products to enhance system functionality.
Develop and present financial indicators and education programs based on business-unit needs.
Prepare accurate and timely management and regulatory reports using information from multiple sources and consistent reporting formats.
Assist in developing meaningful performance measures.
Provide financial analysis support across multiple facilities when assigned regional accountability.
Prioritize multiple projects, exercise independent judgment, and interact with regulatory agencies and internal departments to ensure timely and accurate reporting and processes.
