About The Position

The Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) is seeking a detail-oriented, student-focused Financial Aid Officer. This role is ideal for someone passionate about helping students access financial resources and guiding them through the financial aid process with accuracy, professionalism, and care. As a Financial Aid Officer, you will support students by processing financial aid documentation, ensuring compliance with federal and institutional regulations, and providing exceptional service throughout the funding process. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a student-centered approach.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Financial aid experience required
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new financial aid systems and software
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping abilities
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a student-focused mindset
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with diverse student populations
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to provide timely and informative student support
  • Must not be in default on federal student loans

Nice To Haves

  • College coursework in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred
  • Proprietary school financial aid experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Process financial aid documentation including FAFSA applications, VA Education Benefits, Military Tuition Assistance, scholarships, and loan documentation
  • Monitor FAFSA submissions, ISIR receipt, verification requirements, and student eligibility for aid disbursement
  • Track Master Promissory Notes (MPNs) and conduct entrance and exit loan counseling sessions
  • Maintain accurate student records while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations
  • Review incomplete files and follow up with students regarding required documentation
  • Monitor student accounts to ensure proper financial aid packaging and timely funding disbursement
  • Meet with incoming students to explain financial aid options, required documentation, and available resources
  • Provide ongoing support to students regarding financial aid questions and refer students to appropriate departments when needed
  • Assist with additional projects and responsibilities as assigned by campus leadership
