About The Position

The Financial Aid Counselor's primary objective is to be responsive to students, parents, and other key constituents, and to provide high customer service in helping families navigate the various financial aid processes while ensuring accurate and timely processing that meets federal and state guidelines. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. This is a full-time position: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This role is expected to be on-site five days a week during the school year. Travel is expected in order to attend training once or twice a year. Requirements

  • Experience in financial aid administration.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software and enterprise systems.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to a student-centered, collaborative philosophy.
  • Ability to interpret, apply, and explain policies, procedures, and regulations regarding financial programs.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Authorized to work legally in the US without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in financial aid administration in a private college setting.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • PeopleSoft Campus Solutions experience.

Responsibilities

  • Counsels and advises students and families regarding all facets of the financial aid process, including financial aid eligibility for federal and institutional financial aid and the associated application processes.
  • Advise families and current/prospective students on various options to meet educational expenses.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of need analysis and student financial aid eligibility.
  • Completes review for verification processing.
  • Award institutional scholarships and certify private loans.
  • Collects and evaluates unusual circumstance documentation or information provided by the student.
  • Processes federal documents for C code resolutions, SAP, and scholarship appeals.
  • Utilize software and other technology necessary to perform responsibilities.
  • Promotes the institute's cultural values and maintains a general knowledge of MBl's programs and operations to direct students to appropriate resources.
  • Attend training to maintain relevant knowledge of all federal regulatory requirements affecting constituents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
