About The Position

Creighton University in Omaha, NE is seeking to hire a Financial Aid Coordinator for Medical Student Affairs. This is a full-time, hourly position, working on campus. Typical hours are M-F days with occasional evenings (about 5 times/year). Responsible for coordinating and communicating all financial aid aspects for students in the Medical and Physician Assistant programs. Provides financial aid counseling to students, plans, coordinates and delivers financial literacy program to promote and support student financial wellness. Will also process departmental financial transactions and assist with the management of the departmental budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in related area required
  • Strong writing and presentation skills for meetings with students, parents, and administration
  • Computer proficiency, specifically, Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of financial aid counseling and/or personal financial literacy experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide required Exit Counseling to all graduating medical students and PA students with medical school debt. Provide personalized loan exit counseling for graduating students to discuss tailored debt management and repayment strategies and provide personalized loan and repayment information if requested.
  • Oversee School of Medicine Scholarship budgets, applications, and awards. Prepare and submit the LCME Part-IB Financial Aid Questionnaire. Prepare information for meetings as requested and provide scholarship and debt information to the Medical Dean’s Office upon request.
  • Be available to all matriculating and current students via email, phone, or walk-ins to provide financial aid counseling. Provide information on financial aid deadlines, requirements, and cost of attendance. Troubleshoot issues with financial aid processing, disbursements, refunds, and student accounts.
  • Present annual Financial Literacy curriculum tailored to each year of a student’s medical school experience.
