About The Position

The Financial Aid Coordinator will coordinate student financial aid programs; to ensure departmental compliance with federal, state and University regulations. To counsel and inform students about the various financial aid program requirements and procedures. To serve as main communication coordinator with students and parents. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: PRIMARY DUTIES Determine eligibility, award packages, and adjust student financial aid packages following federal, state, and institutional regulations. Oversee a program or process and the day-to-day operations related to that program. Assist front counter staff in the Student Service Center as needed, which requires the ability to answer financial aid questions in a fast-paced environment. Work closely with verification and professional judgement cases, ensuring that all federal verification guidelines and procedures are followed for successful audits. Create and manage communication with students to comply with federal regulations. This can include letters, emails, or written notices between students and parents. Integrate outside scholarships into incoming students’ existing financial aid packages, ensuring that all federal and state regulations are followed when doing so and no over-awards exist. Creates financial aid documents including forms, letters, webpage updates, and publications. Award and track endowed and donor scholarships. May develop and conduct presentations on student aid programs. May train other staff. Oversee standard operating procedures for their duties. May provide ongoing facilitation of consecutive projects. Requirements

  • Must demonstrate an understanding the Walsh University Statement of Faith and a commitment to support the Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University in accordance with Ex Corde Ecclesiae and the Catholic intellectual tradition.
  • Must also possess the following:
  • Ability to represent the Student Service Center and University professionally.
  • Capable of working with sensitive information with complete confidentiality.
  • Well-developed communication skills a must.
  • Positive attitude required.
  • Ability to quickly learn new processes and programs.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Work Experience: At least 1-year experience in a college financial aid or scholarships office utilizing exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision
  • Ability to make appropriate decisions and use good judgement.
  • Ability to maintain current knowledge of federal, state and institutional changes in regulations and laws.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students, staff and faculty.
  • Written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
