About The Position

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid reports to the Director of Financial Aid and is responsible for supporting students through various communication channels (email, phone, video conferencing, text) in completing financial aid applications like the FAFSA, collecting necessary verification documents, and clearing students for financial aid. This role also involves assisting students with military and veterans aid, administering the institutional scholarship program, performing enrollment reporting, managing financial aid checklists and term documentation, and processing aid disbursements. Additionally, the Assistant Director acts as an SCO for veteran education benefits, ensuring compliance with all US Department of Education Financial Aid Requirements. The position requires participation in regular staff meetings, supervision meetings, and an annual in-person staff gathering, as well as leading staff chapel and prayer on Zoom. This role is classified as a Ministerial role due to its involvement in supporting students' spiritual needs and leading staff in corporate worship and prayer.

Requirements

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree or at least one year of previous experience in federal financial aid administration.
  • Demonstrated commitment to our Christian mission, vision and values focused on serving those who are poor and addicted.
  • Very strong organizational skills.
  • Very detail-oriented.
  • Very strong technical expertise (extensive experience or training with Google Docs, Google Spreadsheets, Microsoft Word, Excel Spreadsheets and Windows).
  • U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident alien with valid work authorization.
  • Must provide a private, quiet workspace free of distractions to ensure FERPA compliance.
  • Requires reliable internet and fluency in digital workflows (Zoom, Google Workspace, SIS, CRM).

  • Previous experience with QuickBooks Online

Responsibilities

  • Support students via email, phone, video conferencing and text in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and other financial aid processes.
  • Collect verification documents and other necessary paperwork from students to clear them for financial aid.
  • Assist students in collecting documents needed for financial aid and verifications, and work to resolve any blockers.
  • Assist students with military and veterans aid, including answering questions, collecting documentation, and preparing informational documents for the VA & DoD.
  • Maintain organization and documentation of student financial and financial aid files.
  • Process student Financial Aid Applications (ISIRs), determine aid eligibility, enter aid offers into the SIS, and document aid blockers.
  • Work with the financial aid servicer (Campus Ivy/Portico) in processing and packaging federal student aid.
  • Administer the institutional scholarship program to identify students and scholarships for various partner organizations.
  • Assist in federal and state enrollment reporting into the US Department of Education’s NSLDS system and Missouri’s Proprietary Student Record Application.
  • Prepare and track documentation for anticipated disbursements each term.
  • Work with the financial aid servicer (Campus Ivy/Portico) to disburse federal aid to students.
  • Perform the duties of an SCO for students using veteran education benefits, including preparing and providing required information, communicating with the VA and TA third parties, and attending annual trainings.
  • Attend annual FSA financial aid training and additional training as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all US Department of Education Financial Aid Requirements.
  • Attend regular staff meetings & supervision meetings, including an annual in-person staff gathering.
  • Participate and lead staff chapel and prayer on Zoom.
