About The Position

The Financial Aid Administrator position is responsible for managing a student financial aid caseload, processing aid adjustments, assisting with office-wide quality controls, and counseling students regarding financial aid. This includes eligibility requirements, available financial aid options, and the requirements for renewal and retention of aid programs. The role serves as the main point of contact for internal inquiries regarding a student's financial aid status and ensures that student inquiries are resolved. It also provides backup to the customer service team. A deep understanding of federal, state, and institutional financial aid and scholarship policies is necessary for effective student counseling and accurate, timely processing of financial aid.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in a related field.
  • Three years in student services or related roles.
  • Equivalent education, training, experience accepted.
  • Must maintain good standing on federal student loans.
  • Grant NSLDS access for hire & continued employment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial aid processes, policies and procedures or ability to quickly assimilate.
  • Ability to problem-solve, multitask and organize in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships.
  • Obtain clearance to NSLDS within 30 days of hire.

  • Experience working in a financial aid office.
  • Demonstrated strong writing skills.
  • Have documented presentation involvement.
  • Proficient in the operation of personal computers and be able to learn new software programs rapidly.
  • Able to engage and communicate enthusiastically to a wide range of populations in a positive, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Bilingual.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a financial aid caseload to help ensure accurate and timely administration of student financial aid.
  • Processes manual aid adjustments and completes various quality control reviews.
  • Serves as main point-of-contact for internal inquiries regarding student aid and ensures student aid related inquiries are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Serves as backup to the customer service team.
  • Participates in financial aid presentations, training, and outreach.
  • Attends and completes trainings as assigned to include a review of Federal Student Aid and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board written guides.
