About The Position

As an intern at Plante Moran Wealth Management, you will be treated as an entry-level staff member, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment. You will work with staff at all levels to support client success. The role involves assessing client financial situations, evaluating financial plans, performing quality control on account activity, and preparing reports with charts and graphs to illustrate recommendations.

Requirements

Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in finance, mathematics, economics, accounting or related field.
Strong interest in investments and economics.
Passionate about helping individuals and families reach their financial goals.
Detail-oriented leader with strong analytical skills.
Must be able to communicate effectively (both written and verbal)
Academic success (a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0).
On track to complete requisite bachelor’s degree and willingness to complete additional coursework required to sit for the CFP exam OR on track to complete requisite bachelor’s degree from a CFP Board Registered Program, with the goal of successfully obtaining your CFP license.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, with the exception of qualified candidates who are bilingual in either Japanese and English or Chinese and English.

Nice To Haves

Some experience at a brokerage, financial planning firm/practice or money management firm is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assessing clients' assets, liabilities, cash flow, tax status, and financial objectives to develop investment and financial planning solutions.
Evaluate client financial plans utilizing knowledge of investment and tax strategies and financial securities.
Performing recurring quality control procedures on account activity ensuring trades and money movements with appropriate custodians have taken place and distributions are provided to the clients.
Work with appropriate technology to prepare reports, including charts and graphs, to illustrate various recommendations and solutions to client specific matters.
