Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Minimum of two years general experience including one year directly related accounting, financial, or taxation experience.
  • Ability to analyze problem situations quickly and take appropriate action under tight time constraints.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and sound judgment in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail while frequently adjusting priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to understand and communicate both business and technical issues with team, management and system support.
  • Initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to interact with various levels of management.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Vanguard shareholder record keeping systems preferred (VISTA, WMS, WIN, VPAS, DBX).

Responsibilities

  • Reconciles, calculates, and submits daily Federal and state withholding payments.
  • Gathers, organizes, and participates in the audit all of the information necessary for generating and mailing tax forms by imposed Federal and state regulatory guidelines. Provides trend analysis and input for improvement. Ensures all tax forms are delivered by regulatory deadlines.
  • Identifies, analyzes and documents trends for issues and/or problems and determine/suggest methods of resolution that apply using all available resources. Provides Management with appropriate updates of difficulties encountered and progress reached. Implements approved solutions.
  • Manages the preparation of all applicable state and federal tax returns and ensures compliance with regulatory deadlines. Oversees the resolution of all open issues and prepares file documentation that is clear and conclusive.
  • Represents the department in corporate wide projects and system projects by developing system enhancement requirements and coordinating testing for those enhancements.
  • Actively participates in Vanguard Unmatchable Excellence (VUE) initiatives, including a continued focus on VUE related activities, such as metrics tracking and reporting, proactively seeking new ways to meet VUE dashboard goals.
  • Assists and supports Management with the development and implementation of department BHAGS.
  • Ensures that all workflows, procedures, forms, and returns are compliant with state and federal regulations. Obtains and maintains in-depth knowledge of tax reporting, regulatory requirements and systems that impact the Tax Reporting Unit. Communicates regulatory changes to the department.
  • Supports the department's supervisor in preparing training manuals, training peers and resolving challenges associated with training. Serves as a department expert and provides coaching to peers and feedback to management on crew productivity and performance.
  • Establishes and maintains professional relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Leads/participates in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provides off-hour availability in the event that there is a business need.
