About The Position

Citizens Advice West Sussex (CAWS) is seeking a Finance Trustee with financial skills to support their work in assisting people of all ages and backgrounds across Sussex. This role involves overseeing budgets, accounts, and financial procedures for the charity, working collaboratively with the Chair, fellow Trustees, the Head of Finance, CEO, and senior team. The current Finance Trustee is retiring in 2026, creating an opportunity for a successor. Citizens Advice is a long-standing organization dedicated to championing people and addressing societal issues to create a fairer society. Requirements

• A recognised financial qualification.
• Previous experience of charity finances and fundraising or a willingness and ability to gain this through training.
• Ability to take a strategic approach to financial planning and oversight.
• Willingness and ability to help non-financial colleagues understand financial matters.

Responsibilities

• Oversee budgets, accounts, and financial procedures for the charity.
• Advise on the strategic direction of the organisation, particularly regarding funding streams and reserves.
• Balance risk and innovation in financial decision-making.
• Keep the Board informed on all financial matters of the charity.
• Share knowledge with the Board of Trustees.
