About The Position

This role supports the Finance Transformation team by partnering with Financial Services and other system-wide Shared Services functions to develop, strategize, and execute process and technology transformation roadmaps. By targeting opportunities to operationalize new workflows or streamline existing ones, the position directly identifies and drives solutions that eliminate waste and improve quality across the financial system. The role facilitates and drives high-priority strategic projects while partnering with leadership to ensure transformation goals are met alongside daily operational requirements. Additionally, it directly supports initiatives to identify, monitor, and drive performance against key financial measures to ensure high-value and effective results for the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, industrial engineering, healthcare administration, or related field. Equivalent work experience considered.
  • One to three years of experience in process improvement, finance, accounting operations, analytics, or related field.
  • Experience documenting standard work, i.e. Policies, Procedures, Process Maps, RACI charts, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Power BI or Tableau.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, interpret, and present data.
  • Ability to learn and understand financial processes, accounting treatment, and systems structure as it related to the general ledger module and submodules
  • Understanding of Financial Reports and Chart of Accounts (Income Statement/ P&L Statement, and Balance Sheets)
  • Ability to interpret needs and document business requirements of stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to partner with cross functional teams and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Power Query or automation tools is a plus.
  • Experience in a healthcare or academic medical center environment preferred but not required.
  • Green Belt Six Sigma Certification or experience equivalency.

Responsibilities

  • Drives enterprise finance transformation by leading process optimization, performance improvement, and digital enablement initiatives across Financial Shared Services, aligning with strategic Technology, Process, and Governance priorities.
  • Leads cross functional transformation projects end to end, from current state assessment through design and implementation, ensuring delivery against strategic roadmaps, measurable business outcomes, and organizational goals.
  • Applies Lean Six Sigma and process engineering rigor to reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, strengthen controls, and standardize financial workflows for scalable, efficient operations.
  • Designs and institutionalizes standard work including policies, processes, and procedures that enhance consistency, quality, and compliance while enabling automation and simplification.
  • Partners with business leaders and stakeholders to identify gaps, define future state processes, and prioritize automation or transformation opportunities grounded in business value.
  • Facilitates requirements gathering and transformation workshops to translate business needs into actionable process, technology, and operating model improvements.
  • Leverages enterprise tools and methodologies including ERP best practices, process mapping, analytics, and project management frameworks to support large scale change initiatives.
  • Builds organizational capability by coaching SMEs and team members, reinforcing accountability, and enabling teams to sustain improvements and deliver milestones on time and with quality.
  • Supports planning and execution of process improvement activities using tools such as 5S, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Kanban, and Problem Solving
  • Works with Financial Shared Services stakeholders and subject matter experts to validate process steps, system dependencies, and accounting requirements.
  • Assists in developing future state workflows that improve efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
  • Identifies gaps in process design related to accounting treatment and system configuration and escalates findings as needed.
  • Develops working knowledge of financial processes and underlying accounting in areas such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Financial Reporting, and Capital Fixed Assets.
  • Understands how transactions flow through financial systems and how data moves between platforms.
  • Supports education on Lean and process improvement concepts in partnership with the Financial Excellence Manager.
  • Supports development and operationalization of new financial standard work, including policies, processes, procedures, templates, etc.
  • Documents of current state workflows across financial processes including handoffs, system touchpoints, approval paths, and accounting impacts.
  • Partners with project teams to support roadmaps, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Assists in monitoring sustainment of improvements and compliance with standard work.
  • Supports technology-based improvement efforts including system workflow enhancements and automation opportunities.
  • Coordinates with leaders and staff to ensure alignment on goals, timelines, and outcomes.
  • Prepares communication materials, presentations, and reports to share progress, findings, and outcomes.
  • Collects, analyzes, and summarizes financial and operational data to support decision making.
  • Builds basic metrics and dashboards to track performance, trends, and improvement results.
  • Supports financial impact calculations related to process changes, labor efficiencies, and automation benefits.
