Finance & Strategy Associate

PhiaNew York City, NY

About The Position

As a Junior Finance & Strategy Associate at Phia, you'll support the financial and operational backbone of a fast-growing consumer technology platform. Working closely with executives and cross-functional teams, you'll help maintain the systems, models, and processes that drive how the business tracks performance, communicates with investors, and makes decisions. You'll operate at the intersection of finance, strategy, and operations — supporting FP&A and accounting while also serving as a reliable partner to internal teams navigating day-to-day business needs. This is a hands-on, early-career role designed for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, takes ownership naturally, and wants to build a strong foundation in finance and business operations at a scaling startup.

Requirements

  • 0.5–2 years of full-time work experience in finance, accounting, consulting, operations, or a related field.
  • Proficient in Excel / Google Sheets and PowerPoint, with the ability to build and navigate a spreadsheet without hand-holding.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing competing priorities
  • Curious, proactive, and adaptable in a high-growth, fast-moving environment
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with FP&A work by maintaining financial models, pulling monthly and quarterly reports, and helping turn data into clear summaries for the team, including historical analysis and budget forecasting.
  • Support the tracking and analysis of business and financial metrics across revenue, growth, and operations on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, surfacing insights and trends to support decision-making.
  • Help prepare investor materials and update quarterly reports, ensuring everything is accurate, clean, and presentation-ready.
  • Help streamline reporting processes by building more automated and scalable solutions, including leveraging AI tools to reduce manual work.
  • Help field cross-departmental operational requests by finding the right information and following through until things are taken care of.
  • Support the tracking and maintenance of company OKRs, keeping progress up to date and surfacing insights to the leadership team.
  • Take on ad-hoc projects across the business and run with them independently.
