About The Position

As the Finance Operations Manager, you will lead and develop a finance team of approximately 3-6 people while ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely month-end closes, and strong accountability across the department. This role is designed for someone who thrives in a leadership environment - coaching team members, conducting weekly 1-on-1s, improving performance, and creating the structure needed for a team to succeed. If you combine strong accounting expertise with the ability to lead people and improve processes, this opportunity allows you to make a meaningful impact. You will own the day-to-day leadership and operations of the finance department for a property management company managing 1,300+ units. Your focus will be developing a strong finance team, establishing clear expectations, and creating the operating rhythm that drives consistency and performance. This includes leading month-end close, KPI reviews, team meetings, reporting timelines, and continuous process improvement. You will coach and develop team members through regular feedback, performance management, and accountability while improving workflows, controls, and systems that allow the finance function to scale.

Requirements

  • Strong accounting leadership experience required
  • Strong experience in accounting or finance
  • 3–5+ years managing accounting or finance teams
  • Strong expertise in month-end close, GL reconciliation, GAAP, and internal controls
  • Ability to design, document, and implement repeatable processes
  • Experience developing and coaching team members
  • Comfort building systems from the ground up when structure doesn't exist yet
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Real estate/property management experience is a plus
  • Property management or real estate experience is a plus but not required

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a finance team of approximately 3-6 people through coaching, weekly 1-on-1s, and performance management
  • Own month-end close processes and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting
  • Establish department operating rhythms including KPI reviews, team meetings, and reporting timelines
  • Build accountability standards and create a culture of ownership and continuous improvement
  • Design and improve accounting workflows across AR, AP, GL, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Strengthen internal controls, audit readiness, and operational efficiency
  • Partner with CFO on forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial analysis
