Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 1+ year(s) accounting or finance experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 2+ years accounting or finance experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate’s citizenship will be verified with a valid passport.
  • Solid Microsoft Office application skills, especially Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 3+ years accounting or finance experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 5+ years accounting or finance experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Professional accounting certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent.
  • Experience in the technology or software industry and/or with multinationals with multi-product and segment finance roles.
  • ASC 606 experience/practical application.
  • Solid communication and problem-solving skills to navigate business scenarios.
  • Critical thinking, comfortable dealing with ambiguity, tenacity to find answers and reach conclusions, and operational excellence.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare customer contract assessments in compliance with Microsoft’s ASC 606 accounting policies and guidelines to document conclusions and calculate revenue adjustments.
  • Assesses contract amendments to draw proper ASC 606 conclusions and determines Day 2 revenue adjustments.
  • Engage in discussions with Deal Desk to gather deal specific information and business context required to effectively complete contract reviews and amendment assessments.
  • Reviews peer work product for completeness and accuracy once proficiency of product and services knowledge is attained.
  • Perform month end close revenue tasks independently.
  • Develop deep understanding of MS revenue policies to effectively pose and field inquiries to/from business partners.
  • Identify deal trends to raise for leadership consideration.
  • Ability to develop and grow in role and at Microsoft.
