Finance Manager - CPA

Remote People

About The Position

This is a rare role for a finance professional who wants genuine ownership without layers of bureaucracy above them. You'll be the Finance Manager for a dual-market consumer products business — responsible for keeping the numbers tight, the models current, and the leadership team well-informed. You'll report directly to the Operations Director and work alongside a full-time bookkeeper and AR/AP team member. External tax and accounting firms in both Australia and the US handle local compliance in each market, so you're not expected to be a tax expert in either jurisdiction — you're the internal hub who keeps everything coordinated and running. If you want a role where you can see the direct impact of your work on a real, growing business — this is it.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in finance, with a track record of operating independently across a broad scope
  • CPA qualified — this is a requirement
  • Comfortable owning a lot: you don't need to be told what to do next; you figure it out

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Xero and multi-integration reconciliation strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems (Cin7 or similar) is a strong advantage
  • Experience in e-commerce, consumer products, retail, or manufacturing environments is highly desirable
  • Exposure to multi-jurisdiction or multi-entity finance is advantageous — deep tax knowledge in AU or US is not required
  • Strong communicator — you'll be working with a globally distributed team and external advisors across multiple time zones
  • Detail-oriented and proactive, with a low tolerance for things falling through the cracks

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day financial operations
  • Own month-end close and prepare monthly reporting packs
  • Review reconciliations from the bookkeeper and outsourced providers
  • Manage cash flow across Australia and the US, keeping close watch on inventory, working capital, and FX
  • Process and review payroll obligations in both the US and Australia, including employee on-costs and Share Plan calculations
  • Supervise the bookkeeper and AR/AP team member, reviewing their work and keeping standards high
  • Maintain and iterate on existing 3-way financial models and rolling forecasts
  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial reports and board pack financials
  • Coordinate with our external AU and US tax firms — you're the internal point of contact, managing information flow and deadlines across both markets
  • Maintain and optimise our system integrations: Xero, Cin7, Shopify, Stripe, and Airwallex
  • Manage banking relationships and ensure we're meeting all financial compliance obligations
  • Maintain internal controls that protect the integrity of our financial data
  • Partner with the Operations Director and department heads to provide financial analysis that drives better decisions
  • Analyse pricing and customer profitability across our retail and wholesale channels
  • Track gross margin performance and support initiatives to improve it
  • Manage product costing and manufacturing accounting across our warehouse and production facility
  • Support capital raise preparation with clean, current financial data and models

Benefits

  • Real ownership — you're not a cog, you're running the finance function
  • A product and brand you can be proud of
  • A small, values-driven team that operates without ego
  • Direct access to leadership and visibility across the whole business
  • The challenge and variety that comes with a scaling, multi-market business
