About The Position

Upstart's Corporate FP&A team is seeking an experienced, execution-focused Finance Manager to support strategic finance for Upstart Bank. This role will own the bank's integrated financial model, lead financial forecasting and scenario analysis, support Bank Board and Asset Liability Committee (ALCO) reporting, and monitor the bank's financial performance, balance sheet, liquidity, and regulatory capital position. As a Finance Manager, Bank Finance, you will serve as a key finance partner responsible for Upstart Bank's financial planning and forecasting processes. You'll work closely with Treasury, Risk, Accounting, Capital Markets, Product, and other cross-functional partners to develop reliable financial forecasts and translate complex banking and regulatory concepts into clear, actionable insights. This role offers significant exposure to executive leadership and the opportunity to help build the financial planning infrastructure for a growing digital bank.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in Financial Services, Corporate Finance, Treasury Finance, Capital Planning, Asset Liability Management, Strategic Finance, or FP&A
  • Experience working within a bank, fintech, consumer lender, or other regulated financial institution
  • Strong understanding of bank financial statements, balance sheet management, capital planning, and financial forecasting
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, including experience building and maintaining complex financial models
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify key financial drivers and risks
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex financial information to senior audiences
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail, ownership, and execution discipline

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting ALCO, Board reporting, Treasury Finance, capital planning, or bank financial forecasting
  • Experience supporting integrated bank financial modeling across the income statement, balance sheet, capital, and liquidity, including stress testing and capital adequacy assessments
  • Familiarity with regulatory capital frameworks and metrics, including CET1, Tier 1 Capital, Total Capital, leverage ratio, risk-weighted assets, and the Community Bank Leverage Ratio (CBLR)
  • Understanding of asset liability management, interest-rate risk, liquidity management, deposit modeling, and funding strategy
  • Experience preparing materials for a bank Board, Board committee, ALCO, or other governance forum
  • Experience with Adaptive Planning, NetSuite, or similar financial planning and accounting systems
  • Proficiency with business intelligence and reporting tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Mode
  • Familiarity with SQL or other advanced analytical tools
  • Prior experience in digital banking, consumer lending, marketplace lending, or a de novo bank environment

Responsibilities

  • Own and enhance the bank's integrated financial model across the income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, capital, liquidity, and regulatory forecasting
  • Develop long-range forecasts, scenario analyses, and planning assumptions that support strategic planning and regulatory readiness
  • Support strategic planning by evaluating new products, funding strategies, and balance sheet initiatives through financial modeling and scenario analysis
  • Continuously improve model governance, automation, and forecasting accuracy
  • Monitor financial and operating performance through recurring reporting and variance analysis
  • Identify key business drivers, emerging risks, and opportunities, providing actionable recommendations to leadership
  • Build dashboards and reporting that improve transparency into bank financial performance, balance sheet trends, capital, and liquidity
  • Partner closely with Treasury, Risk, Accounting, Product, Capital Markets, and Corporate FP&A
  • Support strategic initiatives, regulatory requests, and cross-functional planning that enable the continued growth of Upstart Bank
  • Support capital planning, balance sheet forecasting, and financial stress-testing exercises
  • Partner with Treasury and Risk to evaluate the financial impact of business growth, funding strategies, balance sheet decisions, and changing economic conditions
