About The Position

The Milgard School of Business at the University of Washington Tacoma is seeking applications for a part-time, temporary lecturer position in Finance. This role is for the 2026-2027 academic year, with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2026. The appointment is for a .33 FTE, generally aligning with the nine-month academic quarter (September 1 – June 15). Part-time lecturers are non-voting members of the UW Tacoma faculty. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in finance, including introductory finance, corporate finance, portfolio management, and derivatives. Teaching may involve on-site, online, or hybrid formats, with potential for evening and weekend graduate course instruction. Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Business or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated record of teaching effectiveness or a minimum of five years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Candidates with limited prior teaching experience must be willing to commit to an initial onboarding process that includes guided mentoring by experienced faculty.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver rigorous course content that meets the academic standards of the University of Washington.
  • Ensure delivery of all course materials aligns with catalog descriptions, stated learning goals, and existing standards.
  • Coordinate with the corresponding Area Coordinator and the Milgard School of Business administration.
  • Utilize appropriate and effective teaching strategies and student evaluation methods.
  • Inform students of all course requirements and provide continuous feedback.
  • Hold regular office hours.
  • Use appropriate technology for the course.
  • Submit course grades by the deadline.
