About The Position

The Finance Intern will learn a variety of financial forecast models for multiple bioprocessing centers that produce biofuels, such as bioethanol, and other bioproducts. The models will provide financial support for long-range planning activities related to production, revenue, expenses, and capital. This role will participate in a variety of projects and work closely with finance and departments that support operations. The Finance Intern must be able to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and is expected to anticipate and meet assigned deadlines, clarify expectations, digest feedback in a positive manner, and display a responsive, flexible, and thorough approach to work. This is an on-site role located at POET’s corporate headquarters in Sioux Falls, SD.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Enrolled and completed junior-level courses towards a four-year degree in a related major: Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics
  • Ability to create MS Excel spreadsheet models and produce relevant outputs
  • Prior history of working with large data sets
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent problem-solving and structured thinking skills
  • Knowledge of the basics of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new programs.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing financial information to determine present and future bioprocessing center financial performance
  • Reviewing existing and developing new dashboards that serve a variety of operations stakeholders
  • Supporting the capital project approval process through economic modeling and sensitivity analysis
  • Coordinating with cross-functional groups to gather data and communicate the results of analysis
  • Learning the complexity of a privately held multi-billion-dollar company, its corporate structure, and how the business runs with all the moving parts
  • Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times
  • Maintain a team environment at all times and champion POET in the community
