About The Position

As a Finance Intern at Karman, you will gain exposure to financial planning and analysis (FP&A) within a publicly traded aerospace and defense company. You will also be involved in program finance and contract performance management, manufacturing cost analysis and operational finance, executive reporting and strategic decision-making processes, and government contracting and aerospace industry financial practices. This role involves cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, supply chain, and executive leadership teams.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
Strong academic record with a minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
Experience using Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or similar analytical tools.
Interest in aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, space systems, missile defense, or national security programs.
Understanding of government contracting, FAR/DFARS regulations, or cost accounting principles is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and intellectual curiosity.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports, forecasts, and management presentations.
Support budgeting and forecasting activities for business units, manufacturing operations, and corporate functions.
Analyze operating expenses, labor utilization, production costs, and manufacturing performance metrics.
Assist with program financial reporting, including revenue, profitability, backlog, and contract performance analysis.
Develop and maintain Excel-based financial models to support strategic planning and operational decision-making.
Support capital expenditure analysis and return-on-investment evaluations for manufacturing and production initiatives.
Partner with accounting teams to reconcile financial results and investigate budget-to-actual variances.
Assist in preparing executive-level dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Conduct ad hoc analyses supporting business development, operational improvements, and strategic initiatives.
Support compliance and reporting requirements associated with government contracts and aerospace industry regulations.
Participate in process improvement projects focused on financial reporting, data analytics, and operational efficiency.
