Finance Director, Advertising & SG&A

About The Position

PlayOn is hiring a Finance Director to cover the Advertising and SG&A finance function while the current Director is out on maternity leave. You will step into an established forecasting and reporting structure and keep it running without interruption, not rebuild it. That means owning the monthly, quarterly, and annual cadence for the Advertising P&L and enterprise-wide SG&A (Corporate, Human Capital, Legal, and Accounting & Finance), maintaining the existing dashboards and models, and staying close enough to the business to flag issues before they become surprises. This is a hands-on execution role for someone who can walk into someone else's models and process and run them well immediately. The goal for your term is continuity: the business should not feel a gap, and the returning Director should come back to a function that ran cleanly in their absence.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in finance, FP&A, financial analysis, investment banking, private equity, Big 4, or a related field.
  • A track record of stepping into an existing financial structure and running it accurately with minimal ramp time, this role rewards speed to competency over time spent building something new.
  • Experience with month-end close, budgeting and forecasting cycles, and ad hoc financial modeling.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets modeling skills and a strong grasp of GAAP and financial statements.
  • The judgment to know when something needs to go to leadership immediately versus when it can wait for the next reporting cycle.
  • Strong partnering skills. You'll be working with business teams who already have a relationship with the Director you're covering, and you'll need to earn trust quickly.
  • Comfort working independently against tight deadlines without a long runway to get oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for the Advertising P&L and enterprise-wide SG&A, keeping accuracy and timeliness at the same bar the business already expects.
  • Prepare the monthly, quarterly, and annual reports that give executive and senior leadership visibility into Advertising and SG&A performance.
  • Maintain the existing Advertising and SG&A forecast and reporting models as they are built today.
  • Review financial variance reports, identify what's driving them, and bring findings to finance leadership before they ask.
  • Partner with business teams on operational reporting covering revenue performance, expense management, and budget tracking.
  • Keep current cost containment initiatives running as designed. Hold off on launching new strategic cost initiatives, those are better started by the returning Director unless leadership specifically asks you to.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and modeling for business decisions and special projects as they come up.
  • Maintain labor forecasting and allocations for product lines using the frameworks already in place.
  • Document decisions, open items, and any process changes made during your term so the transition back is clean.

  • Multiple medical insurance plans to choose from
  • Dental, vision life and disability insurance
  • Employee Emergency Fund
  • Company equity (stock options)
  • Open PTO policy
  • 401K plan with company match
  • Hybrid/flexible work environment
